A resident of Bombolulu in Mombasa County can finally enjoy uninterrupted power supply following the intervention of the Commission in a case of wrong payment account.
According to Jimmy Waliaula, he applied for a change of electricity meter from the previous owner to himself after he acquired a house in September 2020. After the application, the meter number was changed and he started paying using his new meter.
Surprisingly, Kenya Power disconnected electricity alleging that he had an outstanding bill. When he visited Kenya Power offices and upon showing them proof of payment, the company discovered that he was paying the bill to a wrong account and promised to rectify the mistake since it was the company that gave him a faulty account. However, the anomaly was not corrected and the confusion persisted for over one year. The predicament impelled him to lodge a complaint with the Commission on 7th July 2021.
The Commission by way of inquiry took up the issue with the company which led to the correction of the anomaly.
