A resident of Siaya County finally had his home connected to electricity after a six-year wait thanks to the intervention of the Ombudsman on its own motion. This follows an article in a daily newspaper where the son decried unresponsiveness and undue delay by Kenya Power.
According to Ochieng, his father, John Lwodo, made an application to the Kenya Power to have his home connected to power on 5th February 2014 and made a payment of Ksh 34,980 to Kenya Power. However, despite the numerous calls and visits to the company offices, his home remained in the dark for six years.
The Commission took up the matter with the Managing Director, Kenya Power, on 9th March 2020 prompting the company to act. Mr. Ochieng in an email to the Commission expressed his gratitude.
“I am delighted to inform you that the power connection has finally been done. We are grateful for the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman. Keep up with the good work and continue offering services to the people of Kenya.”
