Imagine following up on a land ownership document for forty years? This is what Mr. Francis Karime, a resident of Kiambogo Settlement Scheme in Nakuru County, has had to contend with following inordinate delay by the Naivasha Land’s office to issue him with an allotment letter.
According to Mr. Karime, a plot in Kiambogo Settlement Scheme in Nakuru County had been allocated to his late mother, Wambui Ngage in 1977. Upon the demise of his mother in 1980, he began pursuing the allotment letter to be issued to him without any success. Although Mr. Karime was occupying the land at the time, he was informed that the same land was registered in the name of a different person prompting him to seek the intervention of the Lands office to have the ownership issue resolved and an allotment letter issued to him. He felt aggrieved since despite pursuing the matter for almost forty years, the Lands officers were not taking any action.
The Commission took up the matter with the Land Adjudication and Settlement Officer in Naivasha who stated that he had not received the allotment letter from the head office, prompting the Commission to make a further follow up with the Director, Land Adjudication and Settlement in Nairobi who responded on 29th November 2019 stating that they had issued Mr. Karime with an allotment letter on 27th November 2019 and will be facilitating the transfer documents and title deed to the complaint.
