A former Narok County staff was finally paid his dues after a two-year wait following the intervention of the Commission.
According to Mr. Ben Wachilonga, he was employed by the county government as a trade officer until April 2018. However, while working for the county government, he attended a one-month training in China in May 2017 where the county was to pay his facilitation allowance amounting to Ksh283,000. The amount was approved by the County Secretary and the Governor, however, the finance team failed to effect the payment by April 2018 when he exited County employment for a new role with a National Government Ministry.
The numerous follow-ups with the County Secretary did not bear fruit. The unresponsiveness by the county officials forced Mr. Wachilonga to lodge a complaint with the Commission in March 2019.
The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter with the County Secretary which resulted in the payment of Ksh. 283,000 owed to the complainant.
