A dangerously leaning electric pole was finally fixed following the intervention of the Commission.
According to Mr. Patrick Mbugua, a resident of Kikuyu, there was a dangerously leaning electric pole in the area near Kikuyu Hospital, opposite Musa Gitau Primary School. The pole’s live electric wires hanging close to a block of residential houses, endangering the lives of tenants and passersby. The issue, he said, had been reported to the local Kenya Power office by the residents but the staff “seem to be taking their sweet time” according to residents. The situation was becoming worse with the heavy rains pounding the area. The inordinate delay by Kenya Power to fix the pole impelled Mr. Mbugua to highlight their predicament through the press. It is from the newspaper article that the Commission took up the matter on its own motion
The Commission, by way of inquiry, took up the matter immediately with Managing Director, Kenya Power on 1st November 2019 which led to the fixing of the leaning pole and cables. Mr. Mbugua in an email to the Commission confirmed that the pole had been fixed and thanked the Commission for the quick intervention.
