A former lecturer at Dedan Kimathi University, Peter, can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the payment of his dues by the institution.
According to Peter, the university engaged his services as a part time lecturer in French where he taught a total of 24 units and submitted his claim to be paid as per the university’s terms of service but no money from the university was hitting his account. This prompted him to make numerous inquiries with the Finance Officer, the Director, Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance, but nothing was forthcoming.
The delay by the university to pay his dues made it hard for him to meet his financial obligations, compelling him to lodge a complaint with the Commission in June 2018.
The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter with the Vice Chancellor leading to payment by instalment of Ksh1, 372,400 owed by the university. Peter, in an email to the Commission on 17th July 2019 was grateful for the Commission’s intervention.
“I wish to inform you that I have today received my final dues. I am overwhelmed with the support I have received from your office and wish to thank you for the exemplary interventions. I sincerely wish you and your team the best in all your undertaking. “
