Imagine waiting for two years to be paid for goods supplied to a government entity? That is what Maina has had to contend with following the inordinate delay by the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB) to pay his company Asso Ventures for supply of goods.
According to Mr. Maina, his Company supplied KNEB with stationery on 9th June 2017 and submitted the invoice for payment. He waited for the payment and it was not forthcoming and whenever he visited the agency offices, the narrative was always “check next week or it is being processed”. The unending delay affected his business as a young entrepreneur and made it difficult for his company to continue supplying other agencies, compelling him to lodge a complaint with the Commission.
The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter immediately with the Chief Executive Officer leading to payment of Ksh440,000 owed by the board. Maina, in an email to the Commission on 6th May 2019, confirmed receipt of payment.
Maina expressed his gratitude for the Commission’s intervention.
“I am pleased to inform you that my payment was settled by KNEB. I would like to thank the Commission for the intervention which resulted in the payment. I really appreciate.”
