Imagine waiting for four years to be paid for services you offered? That is what Angeline has had to contend with following inordinate delay by South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) to pay her the dues for services offered in 2015 as a part time lecturer at the University’s Kitui Campus. According to Angeline, the university engaged her services from January to April 2015 as a part time lecturer where she taught and submitted her claim to be paid at the end of the semester. She waited and waited. A year passed. Another still passed but there was no money from the university hitting her account. She was impelled to highlight her predicament through the press. The Commission by way of inquiry took up the matter immediately with the Deputy, Vice Chancellor, Administration and Human Resource Management and on 18th October 2018 the Vice Chancellor of the University requested Angeline to pick a cheque of KES 243,000 less taxes as full payment. Angeline, in an email to the Commission on 21st November 2018, confirmed receipt of payment.
