Chairperson, Hon. Florence Kajuju, today (Monday, September 10, 2018) launched a taskforce on the development of the Access to Information Regulations. The task force draws membership from CAJ, Kenya Law Reform Commission, and the National Communications Secretariat under the Ministry of ICT. Also present during the launch were Vice Chairperson of the Commission, Mr. Washington Sati, the Commissioner in charge of Access to Information, Ms. Lucy Ndungu, the Commission Secretary, Mr. Leonard Ngaluma, and the National Gender and Equality Commission member, Commissioner Hon. Priscilla Nyokabi who was the mover of the ATI Bill in the National Assembly.
The Commission has the mandate of overseeing and enforcing the implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016. This law provides the necessary framework and mechanisms for operationalisation of the right of access to information guaranteed under Article 35 of the Constitution.
