As part of its strategies to contribute towards realisation of the right to access to justice by Kenyans, the Commission has carried out free legal aid forums in Makueni County.
The public forums, conducted in three different towns, are aimed at creating and enhancing citizens’ awareness on administrative justice and on their right to access to information and how it promotes access to justice.
The three legal aid forums were held in Wote town in Makueni Sub-county; Makindu, and Emali towns, in Kibwezi West Sub-county. The activities were held in the three towns on 10th, 11th and 12th April, 2018, respectively.
The legal aid clinics are part of the Commission’s annual performance targets to reach out to Kenyans and empower them to deal with legal challenges they face.
The concept of legal aid implies giving free legal services to the poor and needy who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or a method adopted to ensure that no one is deprived of access to the court system.
